Another spirit, a female reptilian spirit named Adapa, fought me on the astral plane. We never spoke, but somehow I knew her name when I first saw her. Adapa was straight out of the Creature Cantina from Star Wars. Reptiles seem to have a thing against me, and now I take their appearance as a warning sign. The encounter felt like a duel as Adapa tried to create energy cords between us, but I am unsure if it was a test or for real, or both. We hit a stalemate, and she left. Although I was unharmed and not corded to her, I felt she was not completely defeated. I guess she got bored with me and left.

The last problem spirit was a dog or jackal. Part of my daily meditation at the time involved opening a portal to another realm and experiencing the pure energy of this realm. As I opened the portal, the animal raced past me and into the door. I knew only those with the ability to open the portal should pass through it. With the help of my guides I stopped the animal. The creature then ran away, refusing to communicate with me. I have been more vigilant ever since. The being was not evil and did not attack, but its presence was unwanted and uninvited. Many practitioners of spirit work have similar experiences and successfully use these techniques to drive away the unwanted.

Though it always pays to be cautious and to know self-defense, you probably will not have to use these methods. We know where the emergency exits are on an airplane, but most people never need them.
